Nick Wright takes subtle dig at Pat McAfee, Aaron Rodgers

Nick Wright was already tuned out.

The host of Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” took a shot at ESPN rival Pat McAfee and his often conspiratorial-minded pal, Aaron Rodgers, on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, “The Pat McAfee Show” had on Texans tight end Dalton Schultz, who compared his time with the Cowboys to being in “a zoo.”

Nick Wright took a subtle jab at the conspiratorial nature of Pat McAfee’s guests. Fox Sports 1

“I heard the beginning of this interview, but then they weren’t talking about (Anthony) Fauci, so I was like, ‘Not for me today,’ so I turned it off,” Wright said. “So I haven’t seen the whole length of the quote. He says it is literally a zoo because people are literally tapping on the glass. And I was like ‘Oh, so it is literally like a zoo.’ It’s similar.”

Wright has not held back when it comes to Rodgers and his views, calling the Jets quarterback “the most disingenuous athlete of my lifetime” in December 2023, as Rodgers grabbed ahold of the spotlight with the controversial opinions on COVID vaccinations and the former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

In that same rant, on his “What’s Wright” podcast, Wright also seemed to take issue with McAfee for giving Rodgers a weekly platform to share his “toxic bulls–t.”

Rodgers got into a very public tiff with ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and his appearances on the show for the season ended shortly after.

“There will be a lot of people who are happy with that, myself included to be honest with you,” McAfee said. “The way it ended, it got really loud. I am happy that he’s not going to be in my mentions going forward, which is great news.”

The Post previously reported that Rodgers gets paid seven figures to appear on the ESPN program.

He didn’t rule out Rodgers returning next season for more Fauci-related rants, however, meaning Wright may just have a reason to tune in to ESPN’s midday programming after all.
