A registered sex offender in New Jersey allegedly stabbed his fiancée to death — just one day after sharing a video of him publicly proposing to her and professing his love, authorities said.
Jose Melo, 52, was nabbed last week after his wife-to-be, Naket Jadix Trinidad Maldonado, 31, was found dead inside a home in Elizabeth on Dec. 30, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
The mother-of-two’s body was found after cops responded to reports of the stabbing just after 9 a.m.
The grim discovery came roughly 24 hours after Melo — a local DJ and ex-con — shared footage on Facebook of the moment he dropped to one knee in their local Bamboleo Night Club.
“I love you baby Flaka Naky Bella,” he captioned the post.
Onlookers could be heard cheering as Melo pulled out the ring box to pop the question.
It wasn’t immediately clear how long the couple had been together.
“Naky was senselessly taken from us on December 30 in an act of evil,” her aunt wrote on a GoFundMe page.
“This horrible act by someone she trusted left her two children without either parent and with very little options for their future.”
Melo was convicted in 2010 of aggravated criminal sexual contact for threatening a female with a box cutter and sexually assaulting her, state sex offender registry records show.
Authorities are still probing a motive for the slaying, prosecutors said.
Melo was slapped with a slew of charges, including first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
