NYPD officers responding to a dog fight in the Bronx shot and killed one of the dogs after it charged at them, according to police.

Police received a call around 4:15 p.m. reporting a “vicious dog attacking people” outside of 470 E. 161 Street in Melrose, cops said.

A pitbull was in a fight with another dog, sources said. When a male witness tried to separate the pair, the pitbull attacked him.

When cops arrived, the pitbull “charged” at them, according to police.

Officers shot the dog, killing it.

Cops were taken to an area hospital by EMS to receive a tetanus shot.
