A pair of Vrbo renters tried to play dumb after causing massive damage at a Wisconsin property – but looked even dumber after being recorded the whole time.
Ashley Deutsch, the owner of the vacation home, said that the guests flooded the place by stuffing pizza in the sink and clogging the drain, then leaving the water running for hours.
‘We can say we woke up to it,’ one renter says in the footage, during a feeble attempt to clean up.
Deutsch said that approximately 640 gallons of sink water caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage, destroying her home and the business beneath her.

The video also featured pictures of water-logged sheets on the staircase and rolls of paper towels haphazardly strewn about the floor
‘Every time you took a step, water would be squishing out from the floors,’ the owner told CNN.
In Deutsch’s Ring camera footage, the destructive duo can be seen drinking beers and stumbling on the stairs.
Later on in the video, the renters fling soaked towels, bedding, and rugs downstairs in an ill-advised attempt to dry up the flood they created.
Unaware that they are being recorded, the oblivious pair can be heard chuckling while they plot ways to cover up their role in the damages.
‘For right now…we can say we woke up to it,’ one of the renters said.
To hear the men scheming in such a despicable way was difficult for Deutsch.

‘It’s so frustrating to hear them trying to come up with lies to excuse their behavior as he’s wringing out a towel with his feet,’ the heart-broken property-owner said.

Around 4 in the morning, Deutsch began getting notifications from her camera outside the door.
When she arrived at the property, she found it in a state of chaos.

‘The sink was clogged with pizza and things that they might’ve had at dinner.’ Deutsch told CNN.
But the destruction wasn’t limited to the Vrbo property. In the unit downstairs, a tattoo parlor, also suffered severe damages from the flooding.
Less than nine months ago, Jamie Princen opened her shop. But now the small-business owner will forced to remain closed for the foreseeable future while she tries to restore her tattoo parlor.
‘It was just soaked,’ Princen recounted with emotion. ‘Hundreds of hours of work into making this studio what it was and just seeing all of that just kind of ripped away,’ she said.

With the property in a state of disarray, Princen and Deutsch are now taking legal action.
But both women have been forced to sell possessions in order to defray the expenses involved in repairing the property.
Throughout the ordeal, they have come to depend on each other for support.
‘I think that we will come back a lot stronger,’ Princen said.
