A man who was rescued from the bottom of a narrow, 40-foot pipe in Portland, Oregon said he has no clue how he got stuck there for hours, officials said.

Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to a report of a person stuck in a hole after people in a nearby building heard a man screaming for help, KPTV reported.

When responders arrived at the scene they heard a man yelling from the bottom foot of a 40-foot-deep ventilation pipe from a nearby parking garage.

The pipe was only about a foot wide, officials said.
