Plane passenger says they were ‘violated’ by mysterious object poking them all flight – before learning ‘disgusting’ reason

A plane passenger was left feeling ‘violated’ after discovering the mystery object that had been ‘poking’ him during a flight – much to the disgust of social media users.

The man, who appears to be from Malaysia, took to Reddit to share a photo of the source of his disturbance, prompting dozens of fellow Redditors to suggest creative – and equally gross – ways to combat the issue.

Posting into the subreddit r/Bolehland last month, the passenger, known anonymously as u/eversoinfinite wrote as a caption: ‘You’re on a plane. Sitting at a window seat.

‘Suddenly your left elbow is poked by something hard and warm. You turn to see this. What you doing?’

The man then attached a photograph with a focus on the gap between the window and the side of his seat.

In the narrow space, another flyer’s bare leg can be seen hoisted up – with his sock-covered foot perched on the tip of the passenger’s armrest.

Many appalled Redditors fled to the comments to suggest a number of petty and creative ways to prevent the problem from continuing, while others condemned the ‘inconsiderate’ actions of the offending passenger.

One person wrote: ‘Why the heck these people like to open their shoes while on a fully air-conditioned place? The smell travels you know.’

Another person commented: ‘Uncivilised and inconsiderate person detected.’

A third, who claimed to be a flight attendant, wrote: ‘I am an air steward and trust me guys, people sit in all possible weirdest way in an aircraft regardless how less leg room they have(sic).

‘And the audacity to remove the shoes with their smelly stockings nor feet exposing around is pleaseeeee, disgusting man. And no offence guys, but mostly its the westerners that does this.’

Suggesting a rather petty method to deter the problem, one person wrote, ‘Tickle it. Then hit it with the buckle of the seatbelt very hard till fracture the toe,’ while another said, ‘Spray it with hand sanitizer and scream yuck.’

Another added: ‘Fill your mouth with water. Let it sit for a few minutes, adding saliva.

‘Then put your head above it, and pretend to fall asleep. Then let the water/saliva drool down on the foot.’

However, one person jumped to the offending passenger’s defence, writing: ‘I think it’s because way back ago we were given slippers so it’s kinda normal to take off our shoes and place them under the seat in front.

‘But now that they fly either econo airlines or due regular airline cut backs, they just walk around with their socks as they would normally at home indoors.’

It comes after two unruly passengers were arrested after trying to force their way onto a plane at Miami International Airport on Sunday.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said the passengers – one man and one woman – were late to their flight to Mexico.

They got into a fight with airport staff and threw coffee into one workers face while trying to get on the plane, reported NBC Miami.

Video shared on social media showed cops tackling the man to the ground as they arrested him outside the gate – and he was eventually hauled off to a cop car.

A second video revealed the female passenger was grabbed by an officer and forced to sit down while the other cops arrested the man.
