Villans may be too strong
The newly promoted Tractor Boys have bounced back from two tough opening games in the Premier League, losing to Liverpool and Manchester City, to draw their next three top-flight fixtures.
Ipswich showed their battling spirit when netting a late equaliser against Southampton last time out, but ideally they would have got their first win of the campaign by now.
Town face a tough task on Sunday as they host high-flying Aston Villa, who have picked up where they left off last term.
Unai Emery’s side have won six of their seven games in all competitions, including a 3-0 win over Young Boys in their return to the Champions League.
Even in the matches where they have gone behind, such as against Everton and Wolves, they now have the strength from the bench to give them an advantage and engineer a comeback.
A big European clash with Bayern Munich looms next week, but Villa should still be able to get the better of this Ipswich team. While they have acquitted themselves fairly well on their return to the top flight, the Tractor Boys have still conceded eight times and look likely to fall short here.
Ipswich vs Aston Villa tip 1: Aston Villa @ 4/5 with Betfair
Duran could lead the line
Colombia international Jhon Duran has been one of the standout performers from the start of this Premier League season, netting four times in just 136 minutes of action.
All those goals have come in his role as super sub, as he has not started in any of the five top-flight games he has played.
But with the blockbuster Champions League clash against Bayern Munich looming, Emery may opt to start Duran over Ollie Watkins.
And with increased game time seemingly certain, Duran rates as a good chance to find the net again.
Ipswich vs Aston Villa tip 2: Jhon Duran to score anytime @ 13/10 with Betfair
Phillips vulnerable in midfield
Ipswich do plenty of dirty work off the ball in the middle of the park, as demonstrated by Sam Morsy’s three yellow cards in five games.
But his new midfield partner Kalvin Phillips looks like the value selection to pick up a caution in this fixture.
The former Leeds man has already been carded in two starts and could end up with another here.
Morgan Rogers is having a breakout season with Aston Villa, with nine shots in five games and registering four attempts on target. Take the youngster to have another effort on goal here.
Six of Aston Villa’s previous seven matches have gone over 2.5 goals – and this contest at Portman Road looks set to be another.
Ipswich vs Aston Villa tip 3: Kalvin Phillips to be shown a card, Morgan Rogers to have a shot on target, and over 2.5 goals @ 7/1 with Betfair
