President Trump picks Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl LIX

President Trump and pop icon Taylor Swift are on the same side this Super Bowl.

When asked who he thinks will win Super Bowl LIX, Trump begrudgingly revealed his prediction that the Kansas City Chiefs would prevail over the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I hate to do it,” Trump, 78, said when pressed by Fox News’ Bret Baier during a pregame interview about his prediction. “I just say that I watched this great quarterback who has, by the way, a phenomenal wife, okay. She’s a Trump fan, she’s a MAGA fan. So I happen to love her okay.”

“I guess you have to say that when a quarterback wins as much as he’s won, I have to go with Kansas City — I have to go with Kansas City. At the same time, Philadelphia is just fantastic.”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany, 29, who just gave birth to her third child last month, has made favorable social media posts about the president, including liking a post about the Republican Party platform over the summer.

Ironically, Trump’s kind words for the Kansas City Chiefs put him on the same side as Swift, 35, with whom he’s feuded bitterly in the past. Swift backed both former President Joe Biden in the 2020 election and former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Trump wrote on Truth Social in all caps, last year without an explanation.

Swift has been dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, hence why the eastern Pennsylvania native is rooting for them.

“[Harris] is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” Swift told her 282 million Instagram followers last year.

Conservatives had been rattled by Swift’s efforts to boost Democrats, given her tremendous sway within pop culture and with scores of devoted fans. Last year, ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, rumors swirled in MAGA social media that she intended to use her appearance at the game to buoy Biden.

She ultimately didn’t make her 2024 endorsement until many months later, long after Biden was out of the race.

Swift isn’t Trump’s only adversary who is making an appearance in Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans.

Former first lady and diehard Eagles fan Jill Biden will be there as well.

Trump is the first sitting US president to attend a Super Bowl game.

“I’m very surprised to hear that, I would have assumed many presidents came,” Trump explained to Baier. “But, I think just the spirit of the country … I thought it would be a good thing for the country to have the president.”

“It’s an iconic day. It’s going to be a big game. Two great teams. And, let’s see what happens.”

The Super Bowl is a rematch for the two teams who had squared off two years ago when the Birds lost to the Chiefs, who have won the last two times including against the San Francisco 49ers last year.

“I’m a big fan of both teams,” Trump said. “Philadelphia has one of the greatest running backs Saquon [Barkley]. You know Saquon has an uncle who was a great fighter.”

Joining Trump on his trip to the Super Bowl will be his children Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and her son, as well as Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum — along with Sens. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Tim Scott (R-SC), Katie Britt (R-Ala.) Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) and Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.)
