On the third day of his visit to China, Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as a number of other international leaders.
The Russian leader arrived in China on August 31 for a four-day visit. The first city he visited was Tianjin, where the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit was held. On Tuesday, Putin will continue his work in Beijing, holding a number of bilateral meetings and taking part in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
The Russian president’s motorcade arrived at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Negotiations between the Russian and Chinese leaders will begin in a trilateral format, including Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. Then, Putin and Xi Jinping will speak in a «narrow format,» as specified by the Kremlin prior to Putin’s visit to China. Their conversation will take place «over a cup of tea.» The Russian-Chinese talks will continue with an official breakfast attended by delegations.
In Beijing, the Russian and Chinese leaders will hold their second face-to-face talks at the highest level this year. The previous talks took place in Moscow in May. At that time, President Xi Jinping visited Russia for the Victory Day celebrations, during which Russian-Chinese talks were held in the Kremlin. That one-on-one conversation also took place over tea.
