Photographer Arthur Edwards claimed he was the first person to show Queen Camilla a picture of Prince Harry’s son, Prince Archie.
Edwards, who has been photographing the royal family since 1977, did an interview with the Sun and said that Archie’s birth in May 2019 was “a disaster” because Harry and Meghan Markle took a different approach than other royals when it came to revealing their oldest child’s arrival.
“When William was born, and Harry was born, and George, Charlotte, Louis, we got great pictures outside the hospital,” Edwards, 83, recalled. “William and Catherine especially — they made such an effort to show the whole world their baby.”
Edwards said that Harry, now 39, and Meghan, now 42, kept Archie’s birth from the British press.
“Harry’s baby Archie was almost teething before we found out he was born,” he said, exaggerating. “We were led to believe that she was going into labor at 2 o’clock, when the baby had been born many hours earlier. We were led to believe it was going to be a home birth, and it was at a hospital. The whole thing was just stage-managed to suit them.”
Edwards then recalled how he was on a royal tour in Germany with some of Harry’s family members — including Camilla, 76 — when Archie was born.
“I remember showing Camilla in, I think, Munich the first pictures of Archie that was taken by the press,” Edwards said. “I showed her on my phone, and that was the first time she saw him. It was difficult times.”
Those events transpired years before Camilla became queen consort when King Charles, 75, took over the monarchy from the late Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September 2022.
Now, Camilla and Charles are estranged from Harry and Meghan, who quit their royal duties in 2020 and live in Montecito, California, with Archie and their 2-year-old daughter, Lilibet.
In his 2023 memoir “Spare,” Harry went off about his stepmother and revealed that he begged his father not to marry Camilla.
“I remember wondering … if she would be cruel to me; if she would be like all the evil stepmothers in the stories,” he wrote in his book.
The Duke of Sussex also insisted William, 41, was similarly “suspicious” about Camilla and her intentions at the time.
“Despite Willy and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead,” Harry continued, referring to his dad deciding to marry Camilla in 2005.
“We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings. We recognized that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved.”
Harry also claimed in “Spare” that Camilla leaked stories about the royal family to the media to maintain her image and boost her popularity.
Earlier this month, a friend of the Firm claimed that Harry “forced” Charles to choose between the duke and Camilla when he was in London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games earlier this month.
“Charles loves his sons, but he also loves his wife,” the source told the Daily Beast. “The last few months have made it very clear how important she is; she has been the one propping up the whole edifice.”
“Harry has made it very clear, very publicly, that he despises her,” added the insider. “He has forced Charles to choose, which was a very silly thing to do, because Camilla and he both chose each other a long time ago.”
Harry ultimately did not see his father or any of his family members during his quick trip to England.
