Reality TV star Teddi Mellencamp has issued a devastating update following her brain cancer diagnosis. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 43, has revealed she now has stage four cancer after six new tumours were found in her brain earlier this year.

She has already undergone surgery on over 20 occasions during her two-and-a-half year fight with the disease. Now, she as explained how her cancer has metastasised to her lungs and brain in a heartbreaking update. Teddi, who is the daughter rocker John Mellencamp, is now facing the possibility of her three kids – Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, five – growing up without her.

Speaking to US Weekly, the star said: «I had six brain tumours and two lung tumours; they all came from melanoma that metastasised into these tumours inside of my body.»

She went on to explain how her treatment plan has now changed due to the new discoveries. «I find out for sure exactly where we stand on June 1,» Teddi said. «If you need to do another round, if there’s any other surgery, if it’s the end. It’s a hard pill to swallow.

«It’s got to be extremely difficult to think about the end.’ This is definitely the hardest thing [I’ve faced in my life], but now it feels less hard. When I was in the ICU, it was incredibly difficult because I had no memory.

One day, I realised it was my daughter’s birthday, and I couldn’t be there for it; it was really sad. It’s still sad when I can’t be there for my kids the way I’d normally be.»

Cancer Research UK explains stage four cancer as meaning «the cancer has spread from where it started to another body organ. For example to the liver or lung. This is also called secondary or metastatic cancer.»

In February, Teddi revealed she had been rushed to hospital to undergo urgent operations. Last month she shared her journey with her Instagram followers.

The reality TV personality first shared: “Day one of immunotherapy. I do immunotherapy once every three weeks. And then next week I start radiation and I do it every single day.

«Yup, I really hope it’s at 8 am so it does not conflict with the pod.”

Teddi soon followed up after her first session, laying in bed in dim light as she explained how the process went, admitting: «Well, I’m pretty glad that’s over.

“It wasn’t actually that bad during it, it was just the last 20 minutes – the nausea. It came in hot, it’s still here. But I did it.

«First treatment is over and I feel like I am going to be really ready for work tomorrow. I mean, I’m practically going to bed at 6pm, so I should be fresh as a daisy.”
