Some Arizona residents are fuming that their backyard views were ‘destroyed’ when a wall was built for a massive neighboring development.
San Tan Valley homeowner Betsey Lawrence claims that the construction of Ironwood Springs, a development project on a former golf course, is ruining her ‘freedom to go out and enjoy my backyard.’
She said that the housing developer’s decision to erect an eight-foot-tall cement wall has blocked her picturesque views of the former course and disrupted her daily life.
‘I call it a monstrosity. I just feel enclosed, she told AZ Family.
‘I used to go out and sit and watch the sunset. I used to have a whole TV out there, and I have a fire pit out there that I used to sit out there and enjoy.

‘All sorts of weather at all sorts of time and now I can’t do it. I don’t enjoy going out there because of that wall, and it went up overnight’, Lawrence, who has lived in her home since 2017, said.
Other nearby residents have also expressed their frustration, as the wall runs down the entire west side of the Cambria Ocotillo community.
Homeowner Jean Stockton told AZ Family: ‘I was appalled. You look outside, and that’s very unsettling that they can do that.
According to the Daily Independent, the Links at Queen Creek Golf Course was purchased for $16 million by Walt Brown Jr., CEO and founder of Diversified Partners, in 2022.

In an earlier press release, Brown said: ‘We are excited to be part of the solution for the high demand housing in the Valley.
‘We are continuing to grow locally with both residential and commercial developments.
‘The Phoenix-metropolitan area is on a fantastic growth trajectory in 2022 and beyond.’
The construction of 172 single-family homes is planned for the site.
‘We know change is coming. It’s inevitable,’ Stockton said. ‘But it needs to be practical and it needs to take the existing needs and their quality of life into consideration.’
