As the investigation into last month’s deadly terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall concert venue continues, Russian authorities have released some details about the probe.
Eleven suspects in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack have been identified and detained, Russia’s Investigative Committee said today in a statement.
The committee also pointed out that investigators have discovered information about the terrorists’ preparations for the attack, which may point to ties to the Ukrainian secret services.
On March 22, a group of armed terrorists stormed into the Crocus City Hall concert venue located on the outskirts of Moscow. The ensuing shooting spree and the fire caused by the terrorists claimed the lives of 144 people and left over a hundred injured.
The four terrorists attempted to flee for the Ukrainian border but were intercepted and apprehended by the pursuing Russian security forces.
While the United States immediately claimed that the attack was masterminded by ISIS*, Russian authorities opted not to jump to conclusions and launched a thorough investigation to determine who exactly orchestrated this act of terrorism.
*ISIS, also known as IS and ISIL, is a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia and many other countries.
