While it’s usually the case that the man pays, what happens when a woman says she’ll pay for drinks but never does?
Well, one Reddit user found out the hard way.
The Redditor, a man, said that he went out to meet a woman he met on a dating app.
After enjoying a nice dinner, the pair decided to continue the date and get some drinks – which, he claims, the woman had said she would pay for as they were heading over.
But when they got to the bar, he said that she began to drink heavily.
The date ended and the man picked up the tab – but decided he would ask her to Venmo him for them because she had said she would.

So the next day, he texted her a gentle reminder that read: ‘Hey, had a great time last night.
‘I was just wondering if you were ever going to Venmo me for the drinks you had?
‘It’s not a bother but you did say you would pay me back.’
But the prompt did not go down well with his date.
She texted back saying, ‘Oh hey lol. I guess I had a pretty good time last night… but I think it’s weird you’re bringing up the money now.
‘I thought the point of a date was to pay for the other person!’
The Redditor went on to explain that after paying for both the dinner and desserts, it seemed excessive to also pay for ‘pretty much the whole top shelf at the bar.’
After he said this to her, she responded, ‘Just say you’re f**king broke.’

She then went on to call him slurs, insisting that he was a ‘sissy.’
The anonymous woman then also insulted his appearance, to which he responded that he was surprised by the comment because of how much she was ‘on him’ the night before.
He then told her that he didn’t feel comfortable talking to her any longer – but that didn’t stop her from launching a slew of awful insults.
She sent multiple texts stating that she was ‘doing him a favor’ by even going out with him because of how ‘ugly’ he was.

But some offered genuine advice and telling the man that he dodged a bullet if his date resorted to such vile language after that exchange.
