Single man’s shock dating confession to Humans of New York leaves readers disgusted

A young man’s shock dating confession has left the internet ‘disgusted.’

The unnamed man appeared in a post on the popular Humans of New York account – a photoblog started by photographer Brandon Stanton in 2010 which now boasts more than 12.7 million followers.

The post featured a picture of the dater dressed all in black with shoulder-length curly hair and a selection of chains draped around his neck.

It was shared alongside a lengthy caption as the man opened up about his approach to relationships.

The caption, shared from his perspective, read: ‘I like older women. My longest relationship ever was a 43-year-old woman. But even then — we’re talking only four weeks.

‘I’m actually kinda worried that I’ll never fall in love. Every time I see a girl that’s hot, for the most part I really have one intention. Then after that happens, I’m on to the next.’

The native New Yorker candidly continued: ‘I went on two dates last week. With one of the girls I was having a genuinely good time: we were talking, going deep.

‘But then we had sex, and it was kind of like: «If you gave it up like this, and you just met me, then what’s your value?»

‘When I wake up next to a girl the morning after, and she’s all in my face — there’s just this feeling of disgust. I don’t know how else to describe it.

‘I’ll barely look at them, barely hug, say the bare minimum trying to get away. I don’t know, I’m just bored of them.’

The man said he played sports his whole life and, in sports, you are ‘constantly working toward something.’

‘But if we were to play football, and they gave us the championship right away, then why do we have to work? What’s the point?’ he explained.

‘Because it’s already there. It’s like: «What do I do now? What else can I go work for?»‘

However, his words sparked fierce backlash in the comments by shocked readers taking issue with his seemingly hypocritical statement.

‘Honey… you «gave it up» right away too. Does that diminish your value?’ someone wrote.

‘THERAPY. THAT’S THE NEXT GOAL, MY DUDE,’ a user wrote passionately.

‘I think the disgust with the girl is mirroring the disgust he has for himself. When he starts respecting himself, he will learn how to respect a woman,’ someone observed.

‘It’s you, babe, not them XO,’ another user wrote.

‘Brandon doing the Lord’s work warning the women of NY,’ a person applauded.

Another said: ‘Publicly admitting this was a choice.’

‘Oh, you don’t know how to describe it? It’s called misogyny,’ a user shared.

‘This dude: «I only want sex.» Woman: «Okay cool.» This same dude: «Ew.»‘ one comment read.

‘And your next goal should be therapy to figure out why you think HER value diminishes, but not yours,’ someone shared.

One user was surprised to see the thousands of negative comments from a ‘virtual community that has always shown empathy’ on the Instagram page.

‘It is true that his words are hard to hear, as he has most likely hurt a lot of women, but I do feel a strong compassion for him too,’ they wrote.

‘This guy is describing how it’s like to feel completely void and aimless, he is saying he enjoys the relationships until sex arrives and that joy is replaced by disgust.

‘He is afraid of never falling in love and [being] left forever with that feeling of emptiness.

‘It is quite obvious that he himself has also become a true victim of his own behavior and unresolved issues.

‘Of course, we should acknowledge his «victims'» pain first, but the guy obviously needs some healing.

‘As another human listening to his words, I see the pain in him and hope that he takes the courage [to look] deeply inside himself to face his inner demons.

‘Growth and healing: that’s what I hope for him.’
