There is just one remaining fixture in the 2025 Six Nations and the title race has been narrowed from three to two teams harbouring ambitions of lifting the trophy on “Super Saturday”.
France’s emphatic win over Ireland establishes Fabien Galthie’s side as favourites for the title, with the hosts’ grand slam dreams dashed in Dublin. A bonus-point victory took them clear of the defendingg champions at the top of the table despite defeat to England earlier in the tournament.
Ireland are now out the hunt for an unprecedented three-peat with England usurping them at the top of the table with a 10-try dismantling of Wales.
Here’s what each team needs to win the title but first, a look at the current table:
2025 Six Nations ‘Super Saturday’
- Italy 17-22 Ireland
- Wales 14-68 England
- France v Scotland – Stade de France, Paris (8pm, ITV)
FRANCE
France’s bonus-point win over Ireland takes them on to 16 competition points. Another bonus point win against Scotland in their final fixture will make certain of the title.
Were they to win without a bonus point, they would match England’s tally of 20 points – though France’s vastly superior points difference, even after England’s drubbing of Wales, gives them a huge advantage, with that being the determining factor rather than head-to-head, and England’s round two win over Les Bleus counting for little. A win of any description will see Les Bleus crowned champions.
ENGLAND
England took care of business against Wales in some style, signing off with a 10-try thrashing. That leaves them hoping for a Scotland win in the final fixture of the championship, which would give them the title.
IRELAND
Ireland did what they had to do to climb to the top of the table despite a scratchy, sloppy showing against Italy. A bonus point win took them temporarily top of the table – but England have usurped them and Ireland will not defend their title.
