Taylor Fritz won a hard-fought quarterfinal match 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(3) over No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev on Tuesday afternoon at Arthur Ashe Stadium to reach his first ever Grand Slam semifinal.
It’s the second straight year an American has reached the penultimate round in Flushing after Ben Shelton reached the semis in 2023.
No American men’s singles player has won it all at the U.S. Open since 2003, when Andy Roddick took the crown.
