An American will take part in this year’s U.S. Open semifinal round.

Taylor Fritz won a hard-fought quarterfinal match 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(3) over No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev on Tuesday afternoon at Arthur Ashe Stadium to reach his first ever Grand Slam semifinal.

It’s the second straight year an American has reached the penultimate round in Flushing after Ben Shelton reached the semis in 2023.
