It has since emerged that Mr McDonald was previously given a restraining order after a listening device was found at a Sydney property belonging to Nicole Kidman.
The actress won a court battle against Mr McDonald and his friend Jamie Fawcett in January 2005 after the listening device was found, according to the New York Post.
At the time, a judge issued a restraining order and told the pair to stay at least 60 feet away from the actress and her home after she claimed they made her fear for her safety and feel like a prisoner in her house.
Taylor Swift is currently in the midst of her worldwide blockbuster Eras Tour.
She heads to Singapore this week for the next leg of what is expected to be the highest-grossing musical tour of all time at over $1 billion, according to Pollstar.
