Not only did she win a bronze medal, but an American Olympian has walked away with her health in tiptop shape – all provided for free in the Olympic Village in Paris.

Ariana Ramsey, who won an Olympic bronze medal with the U.S. women’s rugby team alongside Ilona Maher last week, shared her exciting discovery in a now-viral TikTok.

‘So, not not only in the village do we have free food, but we have free dental, free healthcare,’ the elite athlete, who hails from Philadelphia, shared in her clip.

‘I literally just got a free pap smear for free, and I have a dentist appointment and eye exam next week.

‘Like what?’

The rugby player, who was in the team that won the USA’s first ever rugby sevens Olympic medal, even managed to grab a free pair of prescription glasses.

‘So I get to choose whatever glasses I want,’ she said, showing the glasses on a stand behind her.

‘Y’all I’m truly amazed,’ she continued, revealing she only had to wait 30 minutes to pick her prescriptions up.

Ariana’s videos documenting her experience with free healthcare have gone viral, with the athlete declaring she’s officially a ‘free healthcare advocate.’

‘This is gonna be my new fight for action: free healthcare in America. Period,’ she said.

‘America needs to do better with their healthcare system because there’s no way why me, an American girl, should be so amazed by free healthcare.’

Ariana said she had been thanked by the healthcare workers for her videos about the free services.

According to Sports Illustrated, the Olympic Village has offered free medical care since 1932.

The outlet also reported the village offers cardiology, orthopedics, physiotherapy, psychology, and podiatry.

The village clinic can reportedly handle hundreds of patient visits per day, but Ariana says many of the staff members  have thanked her for raising awareness that it’s there.

Commenters applauded Ariana for making the most of her access to free healthcare – and for advocating for universal health care.

‘Team USA experiencing free healthcare for the first time is a side if TikTok I love, but I wish it wasn’t necessary,’ one user wrote on her video.

‘I need to find a sport for LA 2028 because the free healthcare perk is elite,’ another quipped.

‘Thank you for representing the USA, AND for highlighting its need for Universal Healthcare,’ someone else added.

A 2022 study by The Commonwealth Fund revealed that the U.S. was the only high-income country without universal healthcare.

Designated Team USA athletes are eligible to receive health insurance through the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s Elite Athlete Health Insurance Program (EAHI).

However, this does not include dental or comprehensive vision coverage.
