For the European Championship edition of Telegraph Fantasy Football, we have a team of fantasy football fanatics ready to bring you expert advice from fellow managers that live, sleep and breathe TFF.

Today’s writer, Tim Barry, has been playing fantasy football across multiple formats for a number of years. He boasts a history of top finishes with 21st being the highest rank achieved in Telegraph Fantasy Football.

Telegraph Fantasy Football Euros Edition: Round 2 recap

Group A

Germany qualified comfortably with two wins and Musiala (£5.4m) has scored in both games, securing 14 points. Switzerland look likely runners-up thanks to Shaqiri’s (£3.4m) super strike against Scotland. Hungary and Scotland both need wins to have any chance of making the knockout stage.

Group B

Croatia look a shadow of their former selves and only an unlikely win against the holders will suffice. Albania were very brave against Croatia and deserved their late equaliser. It will be a shock if Spain and Italy don’t finish first and second respectively, with Spain extremely impressive against the latter, Lamine Yamal (£5.1m) seemingly with the world at his feet.

Group C

A very mediocre England are still in the driving seat in this group, but they need to improve dramatically if they want to progress in the tournament. Denmark are likely runners-up but Serbia and Slovenia can still qualify too.

Group D

France look strong with or without the injured Mbappe (£7m) and should win their group. Austria were gallant in defeat and should not be written off just yet. A possibly overrated Netherlands won with a late strike from super sub Weghorst (£4.5m) over a workmanlike Poland team.

Group E

Romania were dominant against a very disappointing Ukraine team and Slovakia rode their luck against the misfiring Belgians with VAR disallowing two Lukaku (£5.9m) strikes.

Group F

Portugal are strong favourites after overcoming a stubborn Czech team and Turkey are probable runners-up in the group after beating a spirited Georgia side. Arda Guler (£4m) is one to watch if Turkey do progress, after a wonderful strike saw his side regain the lead against the Georgians.

Telegraph Fantasy Football Euros Edition: Round 3 tips

The Telegraph Fantasy Football player list has been analysed ahead of the next round and these look like the best players to transfer in:

*It is important to bear in mind the importance of games in Round 4 when making transfers in Round 3 as players could be rested if table positions are guaranteed.

1. Varga (£2.7m) and Szoboszlai (£3.6m)

An unlikely duo but in a must-win game against Scotland, I’m expecting a very open contest with hopefully a few goals and assists for them both. Szoboszlai is on all set-pieces and Varga will be his focal point.

2. Diogo Jota (£5.6m)

At the time of writing, Turkey provide the only obstacle to Portugal securing top spot in their group. Ronaldo will likely be rested and Jota will get the start he craves, and potentially a goal-haul against the likely winners of the wooden spoon, Georgia.

3. Christoph Baumgartner (£2.8m)

He looked the most likely to score against France and I’m expecting points from this 2.8m enabler. He’s the Austrian assist ace and is a great finisher too, definitely one to have in your team for the final qualifier.
