But as the President and First Lady settle into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, there is another figure who’s drawing headlines in almost equal measure – ‘First Buddy’ Elon Musk.
After putting up $130 million to help Trump win the election, Donald and Elon have been virtually inseparable.
They’ve munched on McDonald’s together on Trump’s private jet, sat front row together at the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and Musk has spent so much time at Mar-a-Lago that he has reportedly been branded the ‘guest that wouldn’t leave’.
But now that Donald’s going to be in DC and Elon is in charge of administration’s new budget slashing Department of Government Efficiency, where is Musk going to live?
Nothing if not mercurial – and despite being the richest man on the planet – Musk sold off his entire $128 million property portfolio in May 2020 in favor of a modest prefabricated unit worth just $50,000 conveniently placed right next to the SpaceX launch site in Boca Chica, Texas.
He also has a sprawling compound in Austin – with enough space for his 11 children – and is said to be house hunting in Los Angeles.
But that’s a heck of a commute to DC even with a fleet of private jets at one’s disposal. Which begs the question: is Musk looking for somewhere closer to his bestie? And, if he is, what might pique his interest?
