It was a pat on the back from one GOAT to another.

Tom Brady, one of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks, congratulated Iowa women’s basketball superstar Caitlin Clark for breaking the NCAA women’s basketball scoring record on Thursday night.

Brady, a Michigan alum, was part of a nearly five-minute video shared by the Big Ten Network that featured several celebrities and fans congratulating Clark on her milestone.

“I just wanted to say congratulations on the record,” Brady said in the video. “Like the rest of the country, I’ve been following along while you chased down my girl Kelsey [Plum]. But I know she’s proud of you, too, so we love witnessing greatness here. Keep your head down, go finish the job and I’ll be watching. Good luck.”

Among those also on the congratulatory video were Gayle King, Damian Lillard, Eli Manning, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.

Clark surpassed Plum’s record in the first quarter when she knocked down a long 3-pointer as she recorded all of Iowa’s first eight points against Michigan through the first three minutes of the 106-89 win.

She recorded a school record 49 points.

Clark had come into the night needing just eight points to break Plum’s record, which was set in 2017.

Her chase for the women’s basketball scoring record had been heavily covered, but Clark said that she hadn’t felt that it had become any additional distraction.

“It’s cool to be in the same realm of a lot of really, really good players,” Clark told the Peacock broadcast of the accomplishment. “Lucky to do it ’cause I have really good teammates, really good coaches and a great support system that surrounds me.”

Clark’s record-setting season isn’t likely over just yet with the Hawkeyes player expected to surpass Pete Maravich’s NCAA Division I all-time scoring record in the near future.
