Former President Donald Trump offered his thanks late Sunday night and said he was proud to be an American after Secret Service agents thwarted an AK-47-wielding suspect from shooting him dead in an assassination attempt at the Republican nominee’s West Palm Beach golf course.

“I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes – It was certainly an interesting day!” the former president posted on Truth Social.

“Most importantly, I want to thank the US Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his Office of brave and dedicated Patriots, and, all of Law Enforcement, for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE.

“THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I AM VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!”

Trump was seemingly unphased by the second assassination attempt against him in three months.

He reportedly told Fox News host Sean Hannity earlier in the day that he was bummed he didn’t get to finish his golf game.

“Ugh, I really wanted to finish the hole! I was even and I had a birdie putt,” Hannity said Trump said.

Secret Service agents canvassing the hole ahead of the former president spotted the barrel of alleged shooter Ryan Routh’s gun peaking through fencing along the Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach and opened fire at the suspect.

Routh, 58, dropped his gun and fled under the barrage of bullets. But he was pulled over on the highway shortly after an alert was sent out. He was then arrested without incident.

The former president was previously shot in a failed assassination attempt during a July campaign rally. The shooter in that attempt was killed.
