Two people have been left dead and three were injured in a mass shooting before the gunman fled the scene in Virginia.
The five victims were shot near downtown Suffolk at around 11:25pm in the 800 block of East Washington Street, outside the HM White Bus Service garage.
According to a news release from local police, officers found multiple people with gun wounds when they arrived on the scene.
One adult male was pronounced dead at the site, while another died from his injuries at a local hospital.
Three other victims were transported to a local hospital and are currently receiving medical treatment for their wounds.

Suffolk cops spent hours overnight combing through the scene in their hunt for evidence but have not yet released any details of a possible suspect or motive in the case.
The names, ages of the victims, and the severity of their injuries have also not been released as police claim the investigation is ongoing.

It comes after a linebacker at Division II West Virginia State was fatally shot during what the university said Thursday is being investigated by police as a home invasion.
The body of Jyilek Zyiare Harrington, 21, of North Carolina, was found inside an apartment Wednesday night in Charleston, police Lieutenant Tony Hazelett said in a statement.
West Virginia State said counselors were available to students and faculty on campus.
‘Our thoughts and prayers are with Jyilek’s family as they mourn the loss of this incredible young man,’ West Virginia State President Ericke S. Cage said in a letter to students and faculty.
