Organised by opposition leader Péter Magyar and his rising TISZA party, the protest signals growing discontent with Orbán’s leadership.
Recent polls show Magyar’s TISZA party surpassing Orbán’s FIDESZ party, something that has not happened in nearly two decades. The poll conducted from October 9 to 15 with 1,000 respondents shows for the second consecutive survey that TISZA has overtaken Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s party.
Magyar criticised Orbán for presiding over a “moral and economic crisis.” Meanwhile, Orbán accused the European Union of plotting to install a puppet regime in Hungary. National elections are scheduled for 2026, with TISZA gaining momentum.
