Rio’s Carnival continued in full swing with top samba schools parading at the Sambadrome.

The festivities for Rio’s Carnival kicked off Monday night as Samba school ‘Unidos da Tijuca’ took the stage with an Afro-Brazilian religious theme, paying tribute to Logun Edé, a deity from the Yoruba religion.

Beija Flor de Nilópolis followed them, which honored their late historical carnival director, Laila, who passed away in 2021.

This year, the “special group” parades over three days instead of the usual two, with four samba schools taking the stage each night.

The Sambadrome, a symbol of Brazil’s Carnival since the 1980s, remains the heart of the celebrations.
