Video shows the moment the son of would-be Donald Trump assassin Ryan Routh was busted by federal agents in North Carolina on child porn charges.
Oran Routh, 35, was arrested this week after images of child sex abuse were discovered at his Greensboro home in connection to an investigation not related to his father’s assassination attempt, according to court documents.
Surveillance footage from an auto shop obtained by Fox 8 on Wednesday shows several unmarked law enforcement vehicles swarm into a parking lot and flash their lights on as Routh, dressed in all black, walks through.
Routh puts his hands over his head, turns around and puts his hands behind his back as officers move in and place handcuffs on him, video shows.
“[Police] were here for one week … They searched his house. He was not here,” mechanic Lacine Cherif, who can be seen in the video working on a car nearby, told the outlet.
“They just searched the house and spent a couple hours hanging around here, and then they left … Next day, they came and were around all night,” Cherif said.
Investigators seized multiple electronic devices and found hundreds of files of child sexual abuse when they searched his home on Sept. 21, according to court documents. He faces two charges of possessing and receiving child sexual abuse material.
Oran Routh’s arrest comes just days after Ryan Routh, 58, allegedly tried to kill the former president while he was golfing at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sept. 15 — the second attempt on the GOP candidate’s life.
Days before Oran Routh’s child porn arrest, he said that his father hated Trump, but said he’s “not a violent person.”
“He’s my dad and all he’s had is a couple of traffic tickets, as far as I know,” the son told the Daily Mail. “That’s crazy. I know my dad and love my dad, but that’s nothing like him.”
A Secret Service agent spotted the muzzle of an AK-47 rifle sticking out of the bushes near the sixth hole. The agent opened fire before Routh, who had been camping out in the brush for 12 hours, had a chance to fire a single shot.
Ryan Routh dropped his rifle and fled in an SUV. He was arrested 40 minutes later.
The alleged gunman was indicted Tuesday on charges that he attempted to assassinate a major presidential candidate.
