King Charles III and senior royals appeared on Buckingham Palace’s balcony on Monday as part of nationwide commemorations marking 80 years since Victory in Europe Day.
The royal appearance followed a military parade through central London, which concluded at the palace, where thousands gathered to celebrate.
Historic wartime aircraft flew over the Mall, joined by the Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows display team, drawing cheers from the public and a wave from the King.
Veterans, Holocaust survivors and officials across the UK and Europe are taking part in services and memorials to remember those who fought and those who died.
