Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell left NFL Network host Jamie Erdahl in tears during a Wednesday broadcast, making her an offer to the former Twin Cities native that is rarely given out.
O’Connell appeared on ‘Good Morning Football’ as a guest and offered Erdahl a chance to sound the Gjallarhorn.
The Gjallarhorn is a larger than life instrument, with those who sound it usually having ties to the team or the state of Minnesota.
Alongside the ‘Skol’ chant, sounding the Gjallarhorn is one of the Vikings most-cherished home-game traditions.
Knowing the rarity of the honor, Erdahl immediately broke into tears when she heard she would be given the chance to sound the Gjallarhorn. She immediately accepted the offer.

Erdahl was offered the opportunity to sound the Gjallarhorn on Nov. 3, which she accepted
After the Vikings bye week, they face the Lions on Sunday, then head on the road to face the Rams.
In Week 9, Minnesota hosts the Indianapolis Colts on November 3. That’s Erdahl’s day to shine.
‘Jamie, obviously you hold a special place within this building, as you know, as a Minnesotan and former resident of the Twin Cities,’ O’Connell said.
‘We figured, what better time to bring you back home than when we play the Indianapolis Colts. I know you know a lot about our culture, our great environment at US Bank Stadium, but how about coming out to sound our Gjallarhorn?’
The Vikings are one of two undefeated teams left in the NFL along with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Two more wins, and Erdahl will get to sound the Gjallarhorn for a 7-0 Minnesota team.
