A West Virginia man has built the world’s smallest home which measures less than 20 square feet and only cost him a few thousand dollars to build.
Levi Kelly, 27, is vying for a Guinness World Record after he built a 19.46 square foot home that features a bed, a kitchen, a toilet, a shower, and has air conditioning.
‘Everyone who walks in says: «Wow,»‘ he said. ‘People seem to be impressed that everything can fit in such a small space.’
The home sits on a trailer, so one can take it on the go, and Kelly, a father, has used it to take his son Weston on trips.
Astonishingly, the home only cost the father-of-two $5,000, not including the cost of the trailer that he already owned.
‘You can’t beat that,’ he said in a YouTube video.

The small interior opens up to a bench seat with cushions on it with the air conditioning and heating unit and power bank for the solar panels stored underneath.
Right next to the bench is a kitchen area with a mini fridge, a sink, and some counter space where one can store a tabletop grill.
The bed folds down from the ceiling like a bunk bed. In order to get into the bed, one has to step on the counter and squeeze through a small space to climb inside, he showed on his YouTube page.
As for the shower and toilet situation, you won’t find them inside the tiny home. A showerhead has been installed outside the front door and allows people to bathe outside.
The toilet is a portable one that does not have plumbing and is stored inside a trunk at the hitch.

‘I know what you’re already thinking: «This is a joke,»‘ he laughed in the YouTube video. ‘It is not. It is a real, functioning toilet…It flushes!
‘You can take the toilet inside the tiny house if you wanted some privacy.’
Kelly’s goal with the tiny home – besides breaking the world record – was to keep it small, but have it remain ‘functional.’
‘Is it made to be lived in full-time, possibly,’ he said. ‘Would anyone want to? Probably not.’
The idea came as he had a ‘small trailer already’ and decided to ‘fix it up’ and started ‘framing [it] just like a normal house.’

He does have a few regrets about his model, including the forgotten ventilation system, meaning all the hot air gets stuck at the top. He also regrets the fold-down bed.
‘The space to get into the bed is pretty tight,’ he admitted. ‘I would also make the bench fold out for a larger platform that could be used as a second bed.’
He hopes to use it to go on camping trips with his wife Savannah and their two children, Weston, three, and their nine-month-old.
