Now that the Invincible Season 2 finale is streaming on Prime Video, fans of the superhero series may be wondering when they should expect the show to return.
Based on the comic books by Robert Kirkman, the hit animated series follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson, the son of the most powerful superhero in the world, Omni-Man. While Season 1 saw Mark struggling with his developing superpowers and the pressure of his father’s reputation, Season 2 has shown the young superhero fighting to set himself apart from his father.
The series features an all-star cast, including Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Gillian Jacobs, Zazie Beets, and more. Seth Rogen also stars in the series and serves as executive producer.

How many episodes in Invincible Season 2?
Invincible Season 2 just wrapped, and consists of eight episodes. The first episode of Season 2, titled “A Lesson for Your Next Life,” premiered in November 2023. The eighth and final episode of Season 2, titled “I Thought You Were Stronger,” premiered April 4.
Will there be an Invincible Season 3?
Yes! The animated series was renewed for two new seasons back in 2021 ahead of the Season 1 finale. So, Invincible Season 3 is definitely in the works.
When is Invincible Season 3?
In even better news, Season 3 of Invincible could be coming sooner than we think.
Yeun told Collider that production for Season 3 is already underway, noting that they are trying their best to avoid having fans wait two years between seasons as they did after Season 1.
“For us, we know that this big break was not fun,” he said. “We’ve been working hard to get a lot of backlog done. We wanna time this animation thing appropriately. So, yeah, we’ve been working. We’re banking episodes, we know what’s going on.”
Kirkman said similarly, noting they were “far enough along that there won’t be a similar gap between Season 2 and Season 3.” He added that he hoped production after Season 2 airs will be “smooth sailing.”
In another instance, Kirkman also noted that fans should not expect to wait almost two years for a new season again.
“The realities of animation may make that a little difficult, but what I can guarantee is that the gap between Season 1 and 2 is the longest gap we should ever have, you know, barring some unforeseen catastrophe. It may be every 18 months or 16 months or 13 months or every 12 months. We’re still trying to figure that out,” he told Variety.
So when is Invincible Season 3 expected to premiere? If production is already underway, a new season could be expected as soon as early 2025.
