Woman who claims she’s divorcing her husband over an annoying car habit is slammed online for being selfish

A furious American woman is fed up with her husband’s strange habit of waiting in the car before entering the house – and she’s even asking for a divorce.

The angry wife took to Reddit saying that due to the past trauma of walking in on his ex-girlfriend with another man, her husband always sits alone in his car for 10 minutes when arriving home.

Her husband waits in the car even when there are guests at the home or dinner is  on the table – causing many arguments between the couple.

‘I was worried that something might come up and he does not respond properly. And it happened last week,’ the wife said.

After their son fell and broke his ankle, the woman called her husband to rush home and take them to the hospital – but she noticed he was taking too long.

‘I called and called and then I was stunned when I looked out the window and I saw him sitting outside the house in his car,’ she said.

She rushed outside, screaming at him. Her husband said he needed another two minutes before he could come inside, as only eight minutes has passed.

‘I was so mad and hurt but tried to rush him and he insisted he wouldn’t feel ‘comfortable’ coming in until the ten minutes were up,’ she said.

'My husband is still trying to basically talk me out of divorce saying I'm making a huge deal out of it. I feel like I no longer have trust in him,' the wife said (stock image)

The furious wife took her son to the hospital with a neighbours help.

She then moved back in with her mother and refused to speak to her husband, eventually asking him for a divorce.

People were sharply divided over whether the wife was justified in leaving – with 18,000 men and women weighing in.

Everyone agreed that her husband was suffering from some form of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

But most people still thought his behaviour was unjustifiable, and that his wife was right to want a divorce.

‘His trauma is not his fault, but it is his responsibility. If he takes no responsibility to work on himself, it’s time for him to suffer the consequences of his actions, or lack thereof,’ one man said.

‘The fact that he has refused to seek help for it is peak selfishness. Leaving is warranted,’ one woman said.

‘As someone with severe OCD, this is not an excuse,’ one man agreed.

People couldn’t understand why the husband didn’t call from the car and tell her he had arrived.

‘He outright ignored her calls. He straight up avoided everything…that is a problem. It’s one thing to decompress but this isn’t even coping,’ another man said.

Others sympathised with the husband’s trauma and blamed the wife for putting him in the difficult situation.

‘I don’t know, the wife knew about his compulsion and instead of calling an ambulance, called the one person who had to take extra time to get inside. Even if it wasn’t intentional, she set him up to fail,’ one man said.

‘Why couldn’t you bring him? You used your hurt son as an experiment to set your husband up. Is he the a******? Yep. But you’re also an a******,’ one woman said.

‘While your son was lying in pain you’re screaming at your husband,’ she added.

Others also disagreed with the wife for finding the husband’s behaviour odd in the first place.

‘Why is ten mins in the car on a normal day such a problem that it’s causing arguments? Both my husband and I often decompress in our vehicles before going in and getting on with our evenings,’ she said.
