He went from being locked in a car to being locked up in jail.
A foolish car thief in Florida pleaded with a Corvette owner to help him out of the luxury sports vehicle — after he broke into it and became trapped inside.
Ravesh Rabindranauth, 33, was arrested on burglary charges Monday morning when car owner Julio Solano stumbled upon the would-be thief in the driver’s seat while heading to his car at a Miami Beach parking garage after returning from breakfast, Local 10 reported.
When he approached the vehicle, Solano said, he saw a head “pop out” from the driver’s seat, shocking him, and he began to record.
“My brother, this is not your car, this is my car,” Solano is heard saying to Rabindranauth, who begins begging him to let him out of the Corvette.
“Can I get out?” the failed carjacker brazenly asks.
“No, you can’t get out. We’re calling the cops,” Solano sternly tells him.
“For what?” Rabindranauth dumbly asks.
“What do you mean for what?” Solano replies.
Rabindranauth was later seen being ordered out of the sports car by Miami Beach police officers, demanding he lie flat on the ground before slapping cuffs on him.
While it remains to be seen how Rabindranauth got into Solano’s ride, he believes the car’s security system prevented him from starting or exiting the vehicle.
“The car’s electrical components don’t function without the keys, and fortunately, he didn’t know about the manual door release under the seat,” Solano told Local 10.
Investigators told Local 10 that Solano warned exotic car rental company Premiere Auto Miami 1 — which stores similar vehicles in the garage — of the incident.
“Just be alert, you know when you’re getting in and out of your car, be vigilant, be alert of your surroundings,” Solano shared.
Records obtained by the outlet show that Rabindranauth, originally from New York, has no local criminal history or outstanding warrants.
He is facing one count of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond.
