  • Several WWE both stars past and present attended the 140-person ceremony
  • Deville came out on national tv during company reality show Tough Enough

WWE star Sonya Deville has married partner Toni Cassano in an intimate ceremony in New Jersey.

While it is not known exactly when the pair started dating, images together first surfaced on social media in May 2022 and they have gone onto show off much of their relationship since.

The wedding took place on February 10 at the Legacy Castle, with 140 guests in attendance to watch the couple tie the knot in a ceremony officiated by tv host and WWE ambassador Maria Menounos.

‘That was one element that was really special to me. Deville, real name Daria Berenato, told People. ‘Maria and her husband Keven [Undergaro] have been a huge part of my life.

‘They’re the reason I’m in the WWE, they introduced me to that whole world. They were my mentors back when I was 20 years old bartending in Los Angeles, so they’ve been with me the entire ride.’

WWE stars Liv Morgan, Charlotte Flair, Andrade, Bayley, Montez Ford and Chelsea Green attended, with former women’s champion Bianca Belair serving as flower girl.

Former WWE wrestler Mandy Rose was also present, as well as NXT commentator Vic Joseph and his partner McKenzie Mitchell, who also previously worked for the company.

‘I think we have two and a half tables or three tables of just WWE people,’ Deville, real name Daria Berenato, had said ahead of the wedding. ‘We have our neighbors coming and old family friends, and so it’s like this big wrestler next to my little neighbor. There’s going to be some funny pairings there.’

Guests were asked to wear all-black, with the two brides in white alongside their daughters, Giovanna and Valentina.

Giovanna, the older of the two daughters, played Cassano down the isle on the piano, while Valentina was in charge of the rings.

The pair regularly showoff photos of their relationship on social media, whether in organised shoots or more natural, off-the-cuff photos.

Deville was the first female wrestler in WWE to come out as gay, revealing she was in a lesbian relationship when she was on the company’s reality show Tough Enough in 2015.

Though male wrestlers had revealed they were gay before her, she admitted in a 2021 interview with Variety that she thought her sexuality would harm her chances of getting hired.

‘That’s just how naive I was,’ she said. ‘I didn’t accept myself, so I didn’t think anyone else was going to accept me.’
