As ice-cold temperatures sweep the UK, many Brits will be looking for ways to lock out the chill and stay snug.
One technique for locking in the heat at home is to slip into a comfortable dressing gown.
But millions of Brits may be tying them up wrong.
Taking to TikTok, British creator, Levi-Mariah, shared the ‘correct’ way to tie robe, guaranteeing a draft-free evening.
Captioning the clip, she wrote: ‘I was today years old when I found out how to tie my dressing gown properly. Who else knew this?’
‘Now I’ve done it this way I’m never going back. My dressing gown has never felt better,’ she added.
While most of us rely on weaving the belt of a dressing gown around the back and through the loops on either side of the body – Levi offered a novel method for securing a robe.
Revealing the clever trick, Levi demonstrated tying her own dressing gown by taking the long string and threading it through the two front loops.

Avoiding taking the belt around her back, Levi then pulled the two ends together as one normally would, tucking in either side of the gown to properly secure it in.
She then finished by tying both ends together in a normal fashion, showing off the finished look with a thumbs up.
The neat trick aims to stop the robe from ‘bursting open’ when using the usual technique of wrapping the belt around the back and then tying at the front.
The video has proved popular on TikTok, gathering a whopping 3.3 million views and 69,700 likes on the app.
Many viewers were delighted to discover the hack, with one noting that it would resolve the back pain felt by sitting down against the belt.
One wrote: ‘Aww I’ve been in pain leaning on my belt on the sofa saw this last year was meaning to look for it.’
A second agreed adding: ‘wow such a great idea!! I have sensory problems and hate the part around my back especially when I’m laying down or leaning back, love thisss thank you girlyyy.’
A third said: ‘This is actually very helpful bc it’s so annoying that I have to keep retying my robe bc it keeps getting undone. Def have to try.’

More agreed that it was the perfect way to secure a loose gown writing: ‘I LOVE THIS!!! To all those who aren’t getting it… my robe/house coat NEVER STAYS TIED! I’m sure if I do this however, that will not be a problem! I get what you’re trying to do sis!’
While many were impressed by the dressing gown trick, others were divided over the hack, insisting it only added the complication.
One wrote: ‘This hurt my brain, Because you have to take the belt out each time… It’s easier the normal way.’
Another pointed out that the novel method might be tricky to loosen in a hurry. They wrote: ‘Then going into a panic when you’re going to bed half asleep trying to get out of your dressing gown…nah I’ll stick to fastening the normal way.’
A second worried it might be ‘too difficult for access in an emergency.’
‘That’s one way to put strain on the loops and rip them off,’ lamented another viewer.
One mused: ‘the only time I wear my dressing gown is when I’m suffering from a good night and I am certainly not trying like that incase of a sudden need for the bathroom.’
Others even went as far to sat hey were ‘offended’ by the hack. They said: ‘Well this offended me. Not sure why, I think it’s because I now don’t know what the heck to do for the best.’
