BBC newsreader Karin Giannone has married her colleague Nick Buckley in an intimate ceremony.

The couple, who began dating in 2019, first tied the knot during a trip to California in 2022, but the ceremony wasn’t legal in the UK. The pair have now made their nuptials official in front of their family and friends.

To mark the occasion, Giannone took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a snap of the couple sharing a laugh at the altar, which she captioned: «Properly married now.»

In the photo, Buckley can be seen wearing a blue suit with a gold tie, while his new wife is wearing a lace white wedding gown, which she paired with silver jewellery.

Giannone reposted the image to her Instagram account, writing: «Our wedding blessing. One of the loveliest days of my life.»

Fans quickly took to the comments section to share their well wishes, with one writing: «Wonderful. You look stunning. Many congratulations to you both.»

«Looking absolutely fantastic. Looks like you both had a great day to remember,» another added, while a third commented: «What a wonderful picture, congratulations to you both. Looking radiant.»

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: «Congratulations Karin and Nick! What a beautiful photo. I can almost hear the laughter.»

South African-born Giannone moved to London to present a variety of shifts for Sky News, before joining BBC News in 2005. She is known for presenting World News Today on the BBC World News channel.

Giannone has brought many important news stories to BBC viewers. She presented live coverage from South Africa following the death of Nelson Mandela in 2013, and she anchored coverage of France’s 2017 presidential election.

In February 2023, it was confirmed that Giannone would lose her presenting role as part of the BBC’s plans to change its news channel output, which merged two separate channels into one.
