‘Minions and Monsters’ Comes to Digital But When Will the New ‘Minions’ Movie Be Streaming?

by markoflorentino@icloud.com

Hopefully your Minionese is passable, because the new Minion movie, Minions & Monsters, is coming to digital platforms to buy and rent starting tomorrow.

Directed by Pierre Coffin—who also co-directed and the first four Despicable Me films, and has been the primary voice of the Minions in the films—with a screenplay written by Coffin and Brian Lynch, Minions & Monsters is the third film in the Minions prequel series, and the seventh movie in the overall Despicable Me franchise.

Minions & Monsters is a period piece, taking place in 1920, nearly 50 years prior to the events of the 2015 film Minions. Apparently, there were Minions around for the golden era of Old Hollywood, and they were determined to make their very own monster movie. Lucky for the minions, film was silent back then, so they didn’t need to worry about their grating Minion voices turning audiences away.

With Coffin as the voice of the Minions, the Minions and Monsters voice cast also includes Trey Parker, Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, and Phil LaMarr. We know kids go crazy for these little yellow guys, but we also know money is tight. Before you spend $30 to watch the new Minion movie at home, you should know that we expect to see Minions and Monsters streaming on Peacock soon, and streaming on Netflix eventually.

If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to watch the movie after hitting “play.”

On Amazon, you can also buy a bundle of all three Minion films, including Minions & Monsters, for $49.99.

Minions and Monsters will also be released on DVD, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray on September 8, 2026.

Minions and Monsters not yet available to watch on a streaming service that’s subscription-based, but we do expect to see Minions and Monsters streaming on Peacock soon, free to anyone with a Peacock subscription, because the film is a Universal release.

When will the Minions and Monsters movie be streaming on Peacock?

Minions and Monsters might stream on Peacock around late October or early November 2026.

The Minions and Monsters streaming release date on Peacock has not yet been announced, but we know that Minions and Monsters will stream on Peacock in the not-too-distant future, because it is a Universal movie, and Peacock is the streaming service owned by NBCUniversal. All the new Universal theatrical movies end up streaming on Peacock, though the wait period has varied by title.

Another animated Universal release, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, began streaming on Peacock about four months after the movie opened in theaters. If Minions and Monsters follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie streaming on Peacock around late October or early November 2026.

Peacock currently offers two subscription types: Premium with ads and Premium Plus ad-free. Peacock Premium costs $10.99/month, while Premium Plus costs $16.99/month.

You can save a bit by subscribing to one of Peacock’s annual plans, which give you 12 months for the price of 10. These cost either $109.99 with ads or $169.99 without ads.

Peacock Premium Plus is also available to subscribe to via Prime Video with a seven-day free trial that you can’t get by subscribing directly on Peacock.

When is Minions and Monsters streaming release date on Netflix?

Minions and Monsters will likely stream on Netflix eventually, around four months after it streams on Peacock, as part of Universal’s deal with Netflix that sends Universal animated movies, including DreamWorks and Illumination, to Netflix for a limited period. If our prediction for the Peacock release Minions and Monsters is correct, then you might see The Super Mario Galaxy Movie streaming on Netflix around April 2027.

Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.

This is all speculation. The Universal home releases have not been consistent. If you want to watch Minions and Monsters movie at home, you will be able to buy or rent the film online tomorrow.
