There are drops for 30-year mortgage terms again today. Both purchase and refinance rates with a 30-year fixed term dropped to 7.21%. That is 15 basis points lower than this time last week for a 30-year fixed mortgage. 15-year fixed rates and 5/1 adjustable mortgage rates also took a dip, landing at 6.62% for 15-year rates and 6.30% for 5/1 ARM. Rates have been a bit volatile in recent weeks, hitting the highest numbers since December 2023 at the end of February. Things do seem to have cooled slightly. The overall downward tilt is likely in anticipation of the latest inflation reports coming out. Predictions of a bumpy road for potential homebuyers seem to be a reality now, as rates are not falling as quickly as hoped.
