Here’s when daylight savings time begins — and the official time clocks go back

As fall comes to a close and winter approaches, cooler temperatures and shorter days are becoming more noticeable.

Soon, another seasonal change will be upon us: the end of Daylight Saving Time, when clocks fall back one hour and sunset arrives earlier in the evening.

Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, Nov. 1, when clocks turn back one hour, from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Most smartphones, computers and other internet-connected devices adjust automatically, but analog and digital clocks, watches and devices that are not connected to the internet will need to be changed manually.

During this time of year, mornings will become brighter earlier, while sunset will arrive sooner in the evening, leaving many people heading home from work or school in the dark.

This will make the days feel shorter, especially as winter approaches.

Daylight Saving Time is observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November across most states, except Hawaii and most of Arizona.

In July, the House passed the Sunshine Protection Act, which would make Daylight Saving Time permanent year-round.

The bill has since been sent to the Senate, but it may not pass in time to prevent the seasonal time change.

For now, under the current schedule, Daylight Saving Time will return on March 14, 2027, when clocks spring forward one hour.
