Maybe — fittingly — Cam Schlittler is a Cy-borg.
He is not tiring as he pushes way beyond his previous workload with an AL-high 184 ²/₃ innings. Schlittler is getting better.
Remember when even the righty was frustrated about how he was pitching at home. Well, that’s gone — he has permitted three runs in 31 ²/₃ innings over his last five Bronx starts — that is a 0.85 ERA for those of you scoring at home. Oh, by the way, on the road Schlittler has been historic, his 1.14 ERA the lowest for a qualified starter since Greg Maddux’s 1.12 in 1995.
Heck, Schlittler’s potential for honors is even expanding. With Schlittler long the AL Cy Young front-runner, Aaron Boone justifiably mentioned, “He might be the MVP too. He has been awesome.”
