Fulton Comfort Slides review: Can they help with foot pain?

by markoflorentino@icloud.com

My mom has always suffered from foot pain — so much so that there are times she can’t walk more than half a mile in one go.

She’s tried special soles and sneakers, and avoided wearing heels for years, but very few pairs of shoes are actually wearable for her. She also suffers from plantar fasciitis, an inflammation in the foot that causes heel pain. Recently, she tried the Comfort Slide from Fulton to see whether her feet could tolerate them and whether she liked the style for everyday wear.

Pros:

  • Comfortable for all-day wear
  • Offers excellent support
  • Very durable

Cons:

  • Not a ton of color/style options

The first thing she said when she put these slippers on was, “Wow, these fit so well!” She wiggled her toes around and flexed her feet, happy with how her heel felt in the shoe.

She wore them around my apartment, breaking them in and seeing how her feet handled it. Once she was sure they felt comfortable enough, she wore them around the entire building, replacing her decade-old house slippers with the Fultons.

Sizes: 5-14 | Colors: Natural, Black

My mom always wears slippers around her home. She hates putting her feet on cold floors, and when she’s working in the kitchen, she hates getting dirt or food scraps stuck to her feet. That’s why a comfortable house shoe is so important for her.

“Many people don’t think twice about what they wear inside the house, but supportive house shoes can help reduce stress on the feet, especially during prolonged walking and standing on hard, unnatural indoor surfaces like hardwood, tile, and concrete,” adds Dr. Priya Parthasarathy, DPM.

After a few days around the home, my mom also braved the streets with the Fulton slippers. She usually can’t walk more than a few steps — yes, steps — in new sandals or shoes, but she was surprisingly able to walk to our nearest grocery store, around 0.4 miles away, without any pain.

Even though Fulton’s Comfort Slides are mainly built for indoor wear, they’re okay to wear outside — just not for super-long distances.

After trying the Comfort Slides on her grocery run, my mom even wore them out to dinner and on a short walk to the park next door to my apartment.

Once a few days of her testing them had passed, I asked her for her review. “My feet feel fine. I’m actually surprised I could wear them all day without hurting to the point I needed to stop,” she said. She also went on to add that “wearing them definitely gave me relief from foot pain.”

That’s because the inside of this footwear has arch support and a molded cork footbed. Both of these, plus the deep heel, should help prevent foot pain and even go so far as to prevent knee pain, according to the brand.

And it’s true. Once my mom felt like her feet were comfortable at home, she was able to walk outside for longer periods of time in different footwear.

The stress in her feet felt better, and she also found that the elastic strap on the Fulton Comfort Slide rested easily on her feet without leaving her with red welt marks like her other everyday slippers. In fact, she was surprised to say that her overall foot health felt better.

Doctors agree, too. “The elastic strap is exceptionally comfortable and provides a secure fit without creating pressure across the top of the foot,” says Dr. Anne Sharkey, a podiatrist.

Are they worth it? Our verdict

After wearing these slides for almost two weeks while she was visiting me, my mom is a true Fulton convert — she refuses to wear any other footwear around her home or mine, for that matter.

If you or a loved one also suffers from foot pain, Fulton’s Comfort Slides are the ones to beat. Plus, right now, you can snag them at a limited-time discount for $120 in two colors for both women and men.

How we tested

My mom incorporated Fulton’s Comfort Slides into her everyday life while she was visiting me. She wore them around the kitchen, to the bathroom and even around the building when she was going to the package room. During that time, she kept in mind how her feet felt, even taking notes on how her foot pain reduced over two weeks.
