The veteran running back, who hasn’t played in the league since January 2025, is signing with the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Houston Texans’ Joe Mixon (28) runs the ball during the first half of a game against the New York Jets, Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Robert Sabo for NY Post
Mixon met with Seattle on Monday and will initially be signed to the team’s practice squad.
The Seahawks are 3-1 and coming off a 30-23 win over the Chargers on Sunday, but are near the middle of the league in yards per game and yards per carry as they wait for Zach Charbonnet to come off injured reserve.
Mixon, 30, missed all of last season with the Texans because of a mysterious foot injury, but has been one of the NFL’s most productive backs on the ground and in the passing game when healthy.
