Rams’ Myles Garrett gets $6M raise in restructured contract

Myles Garrett’s new digs in Los Angeles will come with a new contract. Or at least a revised one.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Garrett and the Rams agreed to re-work his contract by adding years and a signing bonus to the package. It is unclear if any new money was part of the tweak.

Garrett signed a 4-year, $160 million extension with the Browns last year, with void years extending to 2034 for salary cap purposes.

His new 2026 payout will rise from $31.5 million to $37 million, as part of the redone contract.

Garrett is now under contract with the Rams through the next five years.

The Rams acquired Garrett in a trade with the Browns on Monday, sending defensive end Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a conditional 2029 third-round pick for the 30-year-old defensive end.

Garrett waived his no-trade clause to facilitate the trade, and it looks like he has his eye on being a big part of the Rams for the foreseeable future.

“Since the very beginning, it’s always been about winning, and it just breaks down to the timing of everything,” Garrett said when he was introduced to the Los Angeles media on Tuesday. “What does it realistically look like to be a winner now and to have an opportunity to do that immediately? That was an opportunity that was just too difficult to pass up.”

All of which trumped the career he built with the Browns. In his nine years in Cleveland, he amassed 122.5 sacks and became one of the most feared pass rushers in the game.

“I always have love in my heart for Cleveland, the city, the community, all it’s players and everything else,” Garrett said. “But the opportunity to come here and have an immediate and profound impact on this team, it was something I just had to move forward with.”
