A Dollar Tree shopper was shocked to see a new outpost of the discount chain resembling a Sam’s Club on a recent visit.
Brad Kirsch posted a clip to TikTok showing him strolling down an aisle of the store, astonished by its sleek appearance.
‘I just walked into our local Dollar Tree, aka Sam’s Club,’ Kirsch said in the video, which had garnered nearly a million views as of Friday.
‘Are you kidding me?’
The store had high ceilings similar to those at a Sam’s Club store, and nearly all the the aisle signs shown in the clip did not feature the Dollar Tree logo.
The video comes nearly a year after the company announced it would close 1,000 Dollar Tree and Family Dollar locations to revamp its business.
Dollar Tree did not confirm whether the revamp would include in-store makeovers.
Company CEO Michael Creedon explained that the chain would ensure Dollar Tree and Family Dollar achieves ‘long-term success’ during a December 2024 earnings call.

In the video’s comment section, various viewers compared their local Dollar Tree stores to Kirsch’s.
Some states where shoppers described their stores as either ‘magnificent’ or ‘disgraceful’ were located Illinois, Virginia, and California.
A few commenters claimed their local stores were also huge and even insisted a new Dollar Tree replaced a former Target store.
Others compared Dollar Tree to outposts of Costco and Walmart.
‘We have a huge dollar tree but where I live and when I tell you this place is always fully stocked and clean like 24/7, I’m not lying,’ one commenter wrote. ‘Not one box on the floor.’
Multiple shoppers claimed their local Dollar Trees were enormous and defied their expectations.
Several ‘jealous’ commenters asked where the store was located, but Kirsch did not reveal it.
‘I’m so jealous. We used to have a somewhat good size dollar tree, and they moved to the location across the street and it’s now 1/2 the size,’ one wrote.

Customers had already been furious with Dollar Tree over its decision to hike prices.
The company created controversy by raising its price cap from $1.50 to $7.00.
Dollar Tree Chief Financial Officer Jeff Davis explained it would ‘drive higher gross profit per transaction’.
‘We are already seeing a meaningful sales lift at the 1,600 Dollar Tree stores that have been converted to our newest multi-price format,’ former Dollar Tree CEO Rick Dreiling said in September 2024.
The company confirmed in its third-quarter earnings report that 2,300 Dollar Tree stores had the multi-price format.
The discount chain was on track to make between $30.7 and $30.9 billion in total 2024 net sales.
‘Our Dollar Tree and Family Dollar merchandising efforts produced tangible results, and our third quarter sales came in at the high-end of our expected range,’ Creedon said in the December 4 report.
‘As an organization, our top priorities remain accelerating the growth of the Dollar Tree segment, completing the Family Dollar strategic review process, and unlocking value for Dollar Tree shareholders.’
