«Your hair truly was a cornerstone of British light entertainment,» another remarked, «but short hair really suits you!!»

Meanwhile, others described his change as «the end of an era». Numerous followers also made references to an episode of Black Books where Bailey’s character Manny briefly moves to a competitor’s bookstore and team leader Evan (played by Simon Pegg) threatens to shave off his hair.

Reflecting on his Strictly triumph in 2020 will never leave him, Bailey explained that fans still associate him with the show several years later.

«I walk down the street and sometimes, someone will clock me as I go past, and they just go, ‘Dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnn’, and I have to turn and go, ‘Dun dun dun dun dun’. It’s just like a little call and response thing’,» he revealed, referring to the Strictly theme tune.

He added that he still incorporates dancing into his live shows, because the skills he learned on the show «never leave you».

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
