The 11 very best subscription boxes for women that make good gifts

I’ve been writing about subscription box gifts since the mid-2010s, when I first subscribed to Birchbox. The thrill of receiving a new delivery each month got me through the day, and I loved taking my time going through the box full of products that I had heard of but not yet tried for myself. Since then, I’ve tried out dozens of other subscription boxes as my tastes have changed, from wine and coffee, to chocolate and clothes, and even perfume and hobby-themed subscriptions.

Subscription boxes are, literally, the gift that keeps on giving (and giving, and giving…). They’re an especially good last-minute gift for women who are hare to shop for, and when you’re in a pinch: buy it on your way to see the recipient, pick up a card en route, and you can let them know to expect their first subscription box later in the month.

Whether you’re shopping for your mom, sister, wife, girlfriend or friend, subscription boxes for women are a great way to lean into her interests or hobbies. Some subscription boxes send the same thing out to all subscribers; others allow subscribers to input preferences and receive boxes curated to their tastes.

From wine and coffee themed subscriptions, to books and flowers, there are literally thousands of subscription boxes out there for every type of interest. Below, I’ve highlighted a few of my favorites over the years that would make great gifts for any woman.

For the flower lover

Bouqs

Flowers are a great gift for pretty much anyone — mom, sister, girlfriend, wife — and Bouqs bouquets are some of our favorites. I’ve been ordering Bouqs flowers for years, originally for myself and lately as gifts to American family now that I live abroad.

With Bouqs 3-month subscription plan, you can choose a style of bouquet to send one time a month for three months. Choose from floral styles like roses, farmer’s market flowers or classic flowers in one of three sizes. The original size runs from $45 per bouquet each month — totally just $137 for the three bouquets.

It’s a thoughtful gift that’ll bring a smile each month when she receives her bouquet!

For the book lover

Book Of The Month

Book Of The Month is a great way to gift a book lover something you know they’ll use. But if you don’t know her literary tastes, don’t worry. Once you give the gift, they share their tastes and choose which books they’re most excited to read each month. Your recipient will get to pick from their curated hardcover or audiobook selections each month. If they don’t want a book that month, they can skip without using their credit.

Prices range from $60 for a 3-month subscription, to $200 for a 12-month subscription.

Each delivery includes freshly roasted coffee that’s personalized based on her unique tastes, so she’ll always receive a blend she’s guaranteed to love.

Winc

If her book club mostly just moonlights as a Wine Club, Winc’s wine club subscription is the right gift for her. When given as a gift, Winc allows your giftee to create a flavor profile and order wines each month based on their palate preferences.

Purchase a gift card from $60 to $500 and she can select from red, white, sparkling or rosé wines, delivered monthly or at whatever cadence works for her. Some of my personal favorite wines include the Lost Poet Red Wine Blend, the Field Theory Albariño and Summer Water Rosé.
