A woman is dead after she fell into an open manhole in Midtown Monday night, police said.
The NYPD said it responded to a 911 call at around 11:19 p.m. about an unconscious woman near E. 52nd St. and 5th Ave.
First responders arrived on scene to find the woman unconscious and unresponsive inside an open Con Ed manhole in the street.
After being pulled out, she was rushed to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
The victim’s name is being withheld as police contact her next of kin.
Her cause of death is pending from the medical examiner.
The NYPD is investigating the incident.
