The pursuit, spanning 120 miles, ended just several hundred feet away from the border as officers arrested the suspect.

It is unclear if the suspect was injured.

Video footage from the border shows several officers surrounding the vehicle and trying to prevent it from moving until the driver pulled away and they opened fire.

A witness at the scene reportedly witnessed the shots being and said he heard helicopters in the area.

An ambulance was spotted at San Ysidro along with multiple law enforcement officers around 8 p.m., according to NBC San Diego. Caltrans said a traffic collision blocked lanes on the southbound I-5 on Camino De La Plaza.

The incident closed the border crossing for nine hours. Customs and Border Protection advised travelers to use the Otay Mesa border crossing as an alternative.
