A man who witnessed a deadly Oregon helicopter crash recalled the gut-wrenching moment that the choppers collided and one “dropped straight down” — leaving no survivors.
“I heard the helicopter noise, I bent over to do something and then boom I looked up and everything was going down,” said Leo Rodriguez, who was working on the roof of his barn when the fiery collision unfolded near McMinnville Municipal Airport Thursday afternoon, according to KPTV News.
“There was a larger one intact still, the tail end of it was struck and then it turned and it propelled down and the other one dropped straight down,” Rodriguez told the outlet.
Texas flight instructor Maddie Aasbo, 22, and a 31-year-old student pilot from the UK, who has yet to be identified publicly, were killed when the Robinson R22 helicopter they were aboard crashed mid-air with an Airbus H125 carrying Oregon pilot Tyler Sturdevant, 38, according to officials.
