FINLAND
A Finnish ski resort is hiding a gold bar worth $23,300 for one lucky guest to discover. Levi, in northern Finland, known for its stunning views of the Northern Lights, is launching the treasure quest, called Midnight Sun Hunt, on June 18. When they register at the Levi Visitor Centre, participants get their first clue, and then have to hike through trails and landmarks to eventually find the grand prize.
EGYPT
Cairo’s new driverless monorail opened to passengers last month, the first of its kind in Africa. The 35-mile East Nile route is the first of two lines to launch. Once the second route, the 27-mile West Nile path, is constructed, the electric network could be the longest one in the world.

MEXICO
The country has announced its star-studded lineup for the World Cup opening ceremony on June 11. The celebration, which will start 90 minutes prior to the first game of the tournament, Mexico vs. South Africa, will feature Shakira, known as the “Queen of Latin Music.” Two Grammy-winning Mexican singers, Alejandro Fernández and Lila Downs, will also be part of the lineup.

China is home to more than half a million Bactrian camels, the second largest population in the world, and the animals’ milk is giving farmers in poorer, rural areas a steady salary. Camel farmers are supported by the government because they boost the country’s economy.

TURKEY
A street vendor in Istanbul has become a viral sensation due to his good looks, and now fans from all over the world are visiting his stall to snap a photo with him. Ever since a video of Alper Temel, who peddles chestnuts and corn with his brothers at their family’s street food stall, went viral in 2024, tourists have been flocking to the district of Karaköy to get a real-life look at him.
